After a year for insurance and a few months helping a close friend, I want to work where I always had a passion, yet a fear. The job hunt is fearful, the job hunt is time consuming, and the job hunt is fun! Well, only if you make it fun. Looking at creating a dream is similar to finding the job you want, and even fantasizing about the what if’s. What I mean is this….
I have always heard about investment banking at the hardest job for a recent graduate because your loaded on red bull, which if you have ever tried is the worst drink known to mankind, and not the mention the 100+ hours a week, which broken down comes to an average of 9 hours left in the day for everything else including waking up, showering, eat, and the actual travel to work. Of course when you become a banker you end up crashing on the couches in the office. Now, this is a job I would not want, but not because of the long hours, but because of the data entry and you don’t actually get to enjoy the money you make because your always working. Then you burn out early and look like Elmer Fudd at the age of 30, I enjoy my thick hair thank you. Now, with job searching I can get a much better glimpse of what the specifics are to obtain it, the types of interview questions andĀ ridiculousnessĀ involved and the wrongly advertised job postings for the hardest job. I have had enough laughs with these job postings to keep the long days shorter.
Then there are the jobs you would love to do, but don’t believe you are qualified. Manage an international office branch in Hong Kong, and you send your resume in just in case. Nothing hurts for more interview experience and at least they will like your confidence. Sell sex toys, not sure how I would tell mom how work is going. Then there are the really unique jobs that you just don’t know what to expect like an auctioneer, treasure hunter, an extra for a movie, and my personal favorite professionalĀ traveler (I have no idea what they were advertising for, but sounds freaking awesome).
Then there are the unique and AMAZING ways to land a job. This guy is named Alec Brownstein who is a marketing genius and created a short video of how he landed his marketing job. Enjoy….
