After a year for insurance and a few months helping a close friend, I want to work where I always had a passion, yet a fear. The job hunt is fearful, the job hunt is time consuming, and the job hunt is fun! Well, only if you make it fun. Looking at creating a dream is similar to finding the job you want, and even fantasizing about the what if’s. What I mean is this….

I have always heard about investment banking at the hardest job for a recent graduate because your loaded on red bull, which if you have ever tried is the worst drink known to mankind, and not the mention the 100+ hours a week, which broken down comes to an average of 9 hours left in the day for everything else including waking up, showering, eat, and the actual travel to work. Of course when you become a banker you end up crashing on the couches in the office. Now, this is a job I would not want, but not because of the long hours, but because of the data entry and you don’t actually get to enjoy the money you make because your always working. Then you burn out early and look like Elmer Fudd at the age of 30, I enjoy my thick hair thank you. Now, with job searching I can get a much better glimpse of what the specifics are to obtain it, the types of interview questions and ridiculousness involved and the wrongly advertised job postings for the hardest job. I have had enough laughs with these job postings to keep the long days shorter.

Then there are the jobs you would love to do, but don’t believe you are qualified. Manage an international office branch in Hong Kong, and you send your resume in just in case. Nothing hurts for more interview experience and at least they will like your confidence. Sell sex toys, not sure how I would tell mom how work is going. Then there are the really unique jobs that you just don’t know what to expect like an auctioneer, treasure hunter, an extra for a movie, and my personal favorite professional traveler (I have no idea what they were advertising for, but sounds freaking awesome).

Then there are the unique and AMAZING ways to land a job. This guy is named Alec Brownstein who is a marketing genius and created a short video of how he landed his marketing job. Enjoy….

5 Thoughts Lie:

A fun way to tell if someone is lying is to look for the variation in the eyes. This is a simple and effect way to tell if someone is tell the truth or trying to easy by with betrayal. This is how you start the trick:

1. I am curious, do you have a brother or sister? (to the person your talking to, if they don’t you just want them to think about a car or someone they know)
2. Say, “I want you to think of 5 things about them, 5 facts, for example, he/she has brown hair or blue eyes”
3. Now tell me when you have your 5 facts thought of.
4. Now I want you to make one of those facts a lie. (You have to say this line after they think of 5 true statements so their mind doesn’t have enough time to make a good lie or be prepared for the trick)
5. Quickly after say the previous statement say, I will say think of fact 1 and I want you to think of it.
6. Do this until you say, think of thought 5
7. While you are doing this look at their eyes, the thought that has variation then the rest is the lie. (for example, she always looks right except on thought 3 she looked left)
8. Now you have to say you were lying on thought X and X. (Give yourself to numbers because they are bigger chances of getting it right)
9. If it is really obvious you can just say one number.

What if there is no variation?:
Simple say, wow you must be a good liar but I still think its X and X.
Blitz Questions: Not as fun as 5 Thoughts

1. Ask the person to think of 3 things they did today

2. Now say make one of those events a lie

3. Blitz them with questions on each event they said, for example. What time did you go? who did you go with? where was it? what did you get to eat (if they said restaurant)?

4. Which ever event they get most catch up or they just give up you know is the lie.

Enjoy this fun game, play with friends.

Here are a few Bar Tricks that are handy for enjoyment:

Bar Riddle: Take a penny, nickel, and a Dime and put them space out in a line on your hand. Go you to someone or your friends and say word for word, “John’s father has three son’s, penniless, nickeless, and…” have them try to figure out the riddle.

Answer: John. But everyone will say Dimeless

Note: Point to the penny when you say penniless

Bar Lies: Only do this trick if you are beating on something, lets say a drink, or a kiss on the check, or a hug, or for a dance. Tell someone they can not lie to you 5 times, but the way this game will go is I ask you a question and you answer it with a lie. For example, What color are your eyes, what is the name of the club/bar we are at now.

Now these are the 5 questions you will ask.

1. What color are your nails?

2. What color is your natural hair color?

3. What is the name of this place?

4. (You must act sincere with this one) How many questions was that?, while looking down and counting on your fingers. They will usually say 3, if the don’t you still have one more question to get them on. The answer you want is 3.

If 4 does not work 5. (Once again act surprised and sincere) OMG I can’t believe you beat me, so that will be a drink (or what ever your bet) on me… (Pause) Have you played this game before? and act surprised while asking.

It works on 2 types of people. Those who are nice, thus give you 3 subconciously or those who have an ego and want to know they beat you at your own game. The only one it does not work on is someone who is not nice and does not have an ego. Very hard to find because bitchy people have ego’s and egotistical people are bitchy.

Have fun and tell me how these work for you.

We will all be introduced to high energy, embaressing, or scarey moments were coming out on top is the best option. This could be a speech in front of students, going your brothers bachelor’s party, or having to perform in front of family. Unless you are competing you will know someone in the audience watching you: a classmate, a friend, or a family member. You must use them as your calm source, the only way to pull yourself together before you go on stage.

Stage frieght, the number one scariest thing for people to do. This is worse than death for many people around the world. Do not feel like you are the only one who has pissed his pants before making a speech or performing in front of thousands, hundreds, or just 3. Each time we put our bodies through a uncontrollable emotional state, a storm, an adreline rush we build our character and become stronger. We have this in the past and know we were able to complete the needed task. If it comes to life or death, knowing we have done it, you will hopefully chose life and perform again.

This post is supposed to help performance anxiety, through calming yourself before your storm.

First: Breathing.
The best way to physically calm your body is the lower your heart rate, and slow your blood flow. You want your body to relax, loosen your muscles so you will not sweat and get a heart attack before you say anything. This will seem simple, but 3-10 long breathes last 5 seconds per breath, in for 5 and out for 5. Do this three to ten times to start the relaxation process.

Second: Imagery.
While you are breathing, you want to close your eyes and take yourself out of the place you are. Image a fun or comfortable place you know. I always pick me childhood bedroom, where I would always have the best dreams and wake up my puppy at the time. The eyes and look on my puppies face always brought a smile to my face. But take your mind out of the dark backstage, in front of the class room, or in the car about to go to a strip club, you will be put yourself someone else were there is no stress.

Third: Inner Storm.
This third part may seem con-intuitive but if you create your own energy and not have your energy forced on you be uncontrollable emotions you will not be nervous. Before you performing after you have relaxed yourself you want to pump yourself up. Do some jumping jacks, focus on exercise for a few minutes to get your blood pumping again. If you control why your body is getting excited then you will not be nervous, you will be excited. Excited is much better than nervous.

Four: Eyes.
Walk out on stage open your eyes and begin immediately if you can. You do not want your stage to freight you, you want to start as soon as you see them, and if possible begin as you come out so you won’t get syked out. If you can not start right away, before you speak close your eyes take 3 deep breaths and on the third began speaking and then open your eyes.

While reading for hours, listening to Mystery, and staying away from inhibitors I am in a better place to start future growth. Richard Branson, the billionaire of Virgin, never enjoyed taking drugs because he wanted his mind to be focused, clean, and controllable. He used adrenaline as a drug, cleaner, but at times riskier.

A question came up with my best friend: If you had $100,000,000 would you risk it all at a 20% chance to get $1,000,000,000? I quickly answered, it depends what I wanted for that future. This question was assuming the $100,000,000 was all I had.

I want to leave a legacy of Koppelman. I do not know how much money I will need today to make it happen, but I do know it will allow third world countries to better their political, economic, and social ways through developing their lowest classes, saving necessary wild-life, and advancing technology in business and agriculture. To relate what it maybe, I thought of a Green IMF. Green of course referring to the green revolution that is currently going on around the world. Although not all solutions will be around an eco-friendly problem, but to better the poor, is to clean up the streets and make a better life for many. To me, that is “Going Green”.

So if I have all I want and have the money but need that $1,000,000,000 I will risk it all because what I love will be to accomplish my life goal. The purpose of my existence, which as of now is this idea of the Green IMF. I say this now and this may change like Hue Hefner’s girlfriend, but I will always want to full fill something on an international level that will reach the minds and hearts of 1,000,000 people.

I just hope I do not make a speech in front of that many and have someone say you achieved your goal.
